In this episode of 15 Minutes With Charlie, Charlie Mechem once again sits down with Baseball Hall of Famer, Johnny Bench to continue their conversation from Part 1. Together, they continue to explore anecdotes from “Total Anecdotal: A Fun Guide to Help You Become a Better Speaker and Writer.”
Humor, Civility, and Respect
You can change your attitude at any point in the day, Johnny says. Just because you wake up with one attitude, doesn’t mean you can’t change that attitude to better suit you throughout the day. Make an effort to be the best, strive to be the most excellent person you can be.
Aspire to inspire, before you expire, Johnny jokes.
Who Are Your Heroes?
It’s so important to have heroes. Mickey Mantle was Johnny’s idol, he says. He has many heroes. From those with recognizable names, like Mickey, to his friends who go out and do their best every day, and his father, to his own doctor—they’re all his heroes in some sense.
Worry and Anxiety
It’s so easy to worry about things, or let anxiety take hold—especially when the stakes are high. Don’t waste a worry, Johnny says, 90% of the stuff you worry about never happens, the rest you can most certainly handle!
